Why vodformer clips never have a watermark
Some clipping tools put their logo on clips made on the free plan and take it off when you pay. vodformer doesn’t, on any plan, now or later. We decided this before writing any code, and it shapes how we’ll charge.
The clip is yours
You streamed it, or you clipped it with the streamer’s blessing. Our logo in the corner would turn your post into an ad for us, on your channel, in front of your audience. A watermark also makes a clip look like it came out of a template, which is the opposite of what a good clip is for.
Watermarks as a paywall punish the wrong thing
A watermark on the free tier says: you can try the product, but you can’t use what it makes. If the clipper picks a great moment and you fix it up in the editor, the clip should be ready to post. Holding it back until you upgrade makes the free plan a demo, and it makes every export a sales pitch.
How we’ll charge instead
vodformer is free during the closed alpha, with a daily processing allowance per tester. When we start charging, the price will depend on how many hours of source video you bring, never on how many clips you make.
That matches where our costs are. Most of them come from analysing the VOD: transcribing it, reading its audio and chat, and having AI models look for moments. That costs the same however many clips you export at the end. Charging per clip would also punish exactly the behaviour we want: trying a moment three ways, exporting a vertical and a 16:9 version, making a compilation from ten picks.
The numbers aren’t final, and we won’t publish them until they are.
What we ask in return
During the alpha, tell us what’s wrong. The editor has a Feedback button, and every message gets read. That, and an occasional “this clip did well”, is the only credit we’re after.
