Three ways to fit a stream on a phone
Cropping the middle of a 16:9 frame loses the face, the game or both. vodformer drafts each clip in the layout that fits it, and you can switch.
Facecam on top
The cam in a band across the top, gameplay below, so viewers see the reaction and what caused it. The usual layout for gaming clips. Drag the seam to give the cam more room.
Face full frame
The crop is centred on the streamer's face and fills the frame. For Just Chatting and IRL streams, where the face is the content.
Blurred background
The whole wide frame, scaled to fit, over a blurred copy of itself. Nothing gets cropped, so it's the safe pick when there's no fixed webcam.
When it drafts a clip, vodformer looks for a face. A face in a small box that stays put is a webcam, and the clip gets facecam on top; a face that fills the frame gets full frame; no steady webcam means the blurred background. Captions for people watching with the sound off
Every draft comes with word-level captions from the transcript, in the style short-video apps made familiar: bold, outlined, the spoken word lit up.

Keep clear of the buttons
Each app puts its buttons on the right and the caption and account name at the bottom. Keep your captions and stickers out of those areas.
Mind the seam
Captions on the line between the cam and the gameplay cover both. Put them in the gameplay, under the action.
Win the first second
Open on a face or the action, not a loading screen. vodformer's hook-first cold open starts a clip with its payoff, then cuts back to the build-up.
Export, then post it yourself
vodformer exports a 1080×1920 MP4 at 30 frames per second. Render it free in your browser, or on our servers when your browser can't. There is no watermark, on any clip.

Questions about vertical clips
What does vodformer export for TikTok?
An MP4 at 1080×1920, 30 frames per second, H.264 video with AAC audio: the 9:16 shape TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels all take. It never has a watermark.
Can I paste a Twitch clip link?
No. vodformer starts from the whole VOD, a twitch.tv/videos link, and finds the moments itself. Clips viewers made on that VOD help it pick.
Does it work with Kick streams and uploads?
Yes. Paste a Kick video link, or upload any stream recording, including YouTube streams. The vertical layouts and captions are the same.
What if my facecam isn’t found, or moves?
Move the cam box in the editor, for one clip or for every clip from that VOD. Or switch the clip to gameplay over a blurred copy of itself, which never crops anything off.
Can I post clips of other people’s streams?
vodformer will import any public Twitch or Kick VOD, but whether you may post clips of it is between you and the streamer. Ask first.
Is vodformer free?
Yes, during the closed alpha. Each tester gets a daily allowance, shown in VOD minutes, that resets at 00:00 UTC; exporting in your browser doesn’t use it. Paid plans come later; when they do, they will be priced by the minutes of VOD you bring, never per clip.
How do I get in?
Join the waitlist. The alpha is invite only and small, so we invite people in batches and email you when there is a spot.
Do exported clips have a watermark?
No. vodformer never adds a watermark, on any plan.
Does vodformer post to TikTok or YouTube for me?
Not yet. You download an MP4 and post it yourself.
